Membership

Why does Bi-NSW need members?
To be a recognised entity by the likes of government departments and media
organisations etc we need to show that we are representing a real "constituency"
who care about the issues that bisexuals face in NSW. Somebody who takes the
time to formally sign up as a member of an organisation is demonstrably somebody
that cares.
Why does Bi-NSW need money?
Quite simply, to cover the admin cost of running an organisation that is constantly
providing information to the community at large as well as putting on events
that help define a bisexual community.
- We run a web site with associated domain that means people seraching the
internet can find us and communicate with us.
- We are the entity of record for an insurance policy that covers all events
put on by all affiliated Bi groups in NSW
- We have a bank account to satisfy the requirement of keeping track of members
funds along with the funds used by events such as Biversity and BiFusion.
- We print pamphlets for distribution to members of the public and also other
organisations (community and professional).
- We hire stalls at several community fair days where we distribute information
and talk face to face with people.
What are the benefits of membership?
Let's be frank here - how much "tangible payback" do you really expect to
get from a $20 membership?
The intangible, but still very real, benefit is the existence of an organised
group that promotes and provides an actual bisexual community.
This allows for many people to know that their feelings of attraction for more
than one
gender are not abnormal.
How to pay?
The subscription fee is $20 per annum with the year running
from July 1st to June 30th.
If paying after 1st January the fee is $10 for
membership through to June 30th. Cash
Turn up to any of our events and find a Bi-NSW committee member and hand over
the money along with your name and address details.
What's the fine print?
- You can view our constitution to see that it's pro forma for a NSW
incorporated association. ie. no financial risk to you.
- You should note that members' names go onto a membership register that
can be viewed upon request by other members. If you do not wish to be
on that register
just let
us know and we will note you as a "voluntary subscriber" and you can
essentially remain anonymous.
- We'll send you a receipt and a membership card in the mail. The membership
card can be used to obtain any of the discounts available.
